Champions League: Arsenal advances, Aston Villa sets up a date with Paris Saint-Germain

Arsenal qualified for the quarter-finals, while Aston Villa beat Club Brugge to set up a quarter-final clash with Paris Saint-Germain.

English club Arsenal drew 2-2 with its guest, Dutch club PSV Eindhoven, on Wednesday in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16, to qualify for the quarter-finals with a 9-3 aggregate victory.

Ukrainian Oleksandr Zinchenko gave the Gunners the lead in the sixth minute, and Croatian Ivan Perisic equalized for the visitors in the 18th minute. Declan Rice put Arsenal ahead in the 37th minute of the first half, but PSV Eindhoven equalized through Sohaib Driouch in the 70th minute.

Arsenal won the first leg 7-1.

Aston Villa face Paris Saint-Germain

English club Aston Villa also renewed their victory over Belgian club Bruges, defeating them 3-0 in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16, setting up a quarter-final clash with Paris Saint-Germain.

The goals were scored by Marco Asensio (50 and 61) and Ian Maatsen (57). Aston Villa won the first leg (3-1) and qualified after winning the two legs (6-1) on aggregate.

Aston Villa will face Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals, who qualified at the expense of Liverpool after the Parisian team defeated them on penalties following a 1-1 draw on aggregate.

Aston Villa became the first team to reach the quarter-finals in their first appearance in the Champions League under its current name since Atalanta in the 2019-20 season.
