An elderly man was seriously injured, and both of his feet were amputated, as a result of the explosion of a mine left by the Houthi militia in one of the towns in Midi District in Hajjah Governorate (northwest of Yemen).
The Yemeni Mine Observatory reported today, Tuesday, that the elderly man (Thabit Jalhouf) sustained serious injuries, including the amputation of both of his feet, when a Houthi mine exploded while he was herding livestock (sheep) in the village of Al-Ja’dah in the Midi district in Hajjah governorate.
The observatory explained in a statement on the Facebook platform that the village of Al-Jaada is a residential area suffering from severe mine contamination, and several mine explosions have been recorded there, and the engineering teams were unable to clear them due to the randomness and density of the mines and the limited capabilities of the clearance and removal teams.
The incident comes days after a child was injured with various wounds that led to the amputation of one of his hands as a result of an explosive device disguised as a toy planted by the Houthis in the Al-Mahsam area in Bani Hassan district in the Abs directorate of the same governorate.
Government reports indicate that the terrorist Houthi militia has planted more than two million mines and explosive devices in various Yemeni governorates since the beginning of the war, and its incidents have resulted in the killing and wounding of thousands of civilians.
