The United Nations has warned of continued deterioration in food security in Yemen over the next two months, coinciding with the onset of the dry season.
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations ( FAO ) said in its report issued yesterday, Saturday, on the results of the December survey, that with the onset of the winter season and the end of the main harvest season, "no significant improvement in food security in Yemen is expected during the next two months."
The report added that unless humanitarian assistance is intensified to target groups in areas most at risk of food insecurity, "the situation is expected to worsen as we approach the dry season."
Alphao called for increased humanitarian assistance in areas where acute food insecurity is likely to deteriorate sharply.
