The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom stressed the importance of ensuring the security and stability of the Red Sea to protect the global economy, in light of the continued attacks launched by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia on cargo ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden for more than a year.

Members of the UN Security Council renewed their condemnation of the continued attacks by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia on cargo ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, calling for the immediate release of the crew of the ship "Galaxy Leader".

Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Rashad Al-Alimi discussed with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi the security of international navigation in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, in light of the Houthi militia's continued attacks on cargo ships and their repercussions on Egyptian interests.

On Monday, Yemeni Prime Minister Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak discussed with the Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa at the British Foreign Office, Hamish Falconer, the ongoing attacks by the Houthi militia on commercial ships in the Red Sea and their repercussions on international navigation.

The European Research Centre, said, “The attacks not only threaten the security of sea routes, but also play a crucial role in the broader context of irregular warfare and strategic competition involving China, Russia and Iran.”
