Hamas announced in a video statement on Monday that 33 Israeli prisoners were killed and some of them are missing during the war on Gaza. The movement said in the statement: "33 prisoners were killed because of the criminal (occupation government prime minister Benjamin) Netanyahu and his fascist army. By continuing your crazy war, you may lose your prisoners forever. Do what you must before it is too late."

A video clip broadcast by the movement on Telegram stated that four prisoners were killed on October 4, 2023, nine prisoners on the 14th of the same month, a soldier prisoner was killed on December 9, 2023 as a result of the occupation’s failure to try to recover him, seven prisoners on March 1, 2024, three prisoners on June 9, 2024, one prisoner on August 12, 2024, six prisoners on September 2, 2024, a female prisoner on October 21, 2024, and another female prisoner on November 21, 2024.

Since the start of the war of extermination on Gaza on October 7, 2023, which left about 150,000 Palestinian victims, including martyrs and wounded, most of them women and children, the Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, has broadcast dozens of clips of Israeli prisoners appealing to their government to release them, but Netanyahu’s intransigence in the ceasefire negotiations prevented reaching a prisoner exchange deal.

Tel Aviv estimates that there are 101 prisoners in Gaza out of at least 239 Israelis captured on October 7, dozens of whom were exchanged during a temporary truce in November 2023.

On Saturday, the Al-Qassam Brigades published a video clip of an Israeli prisoner in Gaza who holds American citizenship, in which he appears appealing to US President-elect Donald Trump to release him. The prisoner spoke about the occupation government’s $5 million reward for anyone who provides information about him, and called on Israelis to demonstrate to save him.

“We die a thousand times every day,” prisoner Idan Alexander added, calling on Trump to use his influence and negotiate the release of the detainees in Gaza, saying that “every day in captivity feels like forever, and the pain inside us grows day by day.” He called on Trump not to make the mistake made by current US President Joe Biden, by sending weapons that kill Israeli and American prisoners, as well as imposing an illegal blockade (on Gaza) that also kills them.
