Four children were injured in the explosion of a Houthi mine camouflaged as a doll, in Al-Durayhimi District, south of Al-Hodeidah Governorate (western Yemen).

This came according to a statement by the Human Rights Office in Al-Duraihimi District, published yesterday, Thursday, indicating that the incident occurred during the past two days in the city of Al-Duraihimi and east of Ghalifiqa, southwest of the district.

The office stated that the victims are: Ayman Muhammad Maqbool, 14 years old, who sustained various wounds; Rafiq Ayyash Sagheer Bakri, 5 years old, who sustained various shrapnel wounds to the head and left eye; Hamdi Ayyash Bakri, 4 years old, who sustained shrapnel wounds to the right arm and chest; and Muhammad Hiba Bakri, whose left leg was amputated.

The office called on the international community to take immediate action to protect civilians and ensure that such incidents do not recur.

The Human Rights Office had previously indicated in a statement that the militia had planted and distributed quantities of mines and booby traps in various areas of the Al-Durayhimi District, and warned civilians and children against approaching those mines.
