The terrorist Houthi militia has intensified its violations against civilians in Al-Duraihimi District, south of Al-Hodeidah City (western Yemen).
The Human Rights Office in Al-Duraihimi District said in a statement on the occasion of International Human Rights Day, which falls on December 10 of each year, that it documented hundreds of Houthi violations against residents of the district during the current year.
The office explained that these violations included (planting mines, forced recruitment, sectarian mobilization, kidnapping, torture and other violations).
The statement confirmed that the militia planted individual and naval mines and booby-trapped explosive devices along the coastal strip of the directorate, in citizens' farms, sheep pastures, and even in the sea, explaining that these random mines caused the death of many civilians and their property, with long-term repercussions that will continue to affect Yemen for decades.
The office indicated that the militias are also working to recruit children, documenting 609 cases of recruitment of children under the age of 18 from the directorate, not to mention the recruitment of adults, and subjecting them all to military courses and sectarian mobilization aimed at planting ideas that serve the group's agenda, exploiting their difficult living conditions.
The statement added that the militia kidnapped a number of citizens and extracted confessions from them under torture with the aim of spreading fear and terror among the people.
The Human Rights Office called on the international community to urgently intervene to stop these violations that have exhausted the directorate and its residents, stressing its continued follow-up and documentation of all crimes committed by the Houthi militias.
