Ernesto Kapinga from Tanzania has become the focus of many media outlets because of his large family, which includes 16 wives, 104 children and 144 grandchildren.
According to Oddity Central, Kapinga's story with the large family began in 1961 when he married his first wife, but his father was determined to expand the clan, and encouraged him to marry several more times.
Over time, Kapinga had 20 wives, but some of them left the family, and now he has 16 wives left. As a result of all these marriages, his family now includes 104 children and 144 grandchildren.
The website indicated that the Kapinga family is like a small village, as each wife currently lives in a house, and her children and grandchildren help her with the housework.
For his part, Kapinga said: “In this family, everyone has a role. We grow and eat together. We secure food and needs by growing corn, beans and bananas. We eat some of the products and sell the rest.”
He added: "Despite the large size of the family, conflicts between family members rarely arise. The wives discuss all problems frankly, and if they do not reach a solution, they resort to counselling."
Kabinga said he does not remember the names of all his children and grandchildren, he only remembers about 50 names, and recognizes the rest by their faces.
