Political parties in Taiz
Today, Wednesday, the political parties in Taiz Governorate called on the members of the Presidential Leadership Council to assume their responsibility and begin taking courageous and effective steps to reform the economy, and work on practical solutions to re-export oil, and control all resources, warning at the same time of a revolution of the hungry.
This came in a statement issued by the periodic meeting of Taiz parties, which was held today, to address national issues, most notably the deterioration of the Yemeni currency and its repercussions on the daily life of the citizen and the rise in prices that have turned the citizen's life into hell.
The statement stressed "ending the leakage of resources outside the state's accounts and budget, as this has deadly effects and national negligence from which no one will be exempt," stressing the necessity of "revealing to the people what solutions and obstacles are taking place, as the matter is a matter of life or death, and moving in a unified manner at all local, regional and international levels."
The political parties in Taiz called on "the government to mobilize all efforts, stand up to the economic situation, and foremost among them the deterioration of the currency, and provide solutions whether in the field of controlling and collecting resources, or those related to the process of rationalization and tightening belts."
The government also called for "developing a plan to reduce spending in all areas, foremost among which are embassies and the amounts spent in hard currency on long queues abroad, most of which are useless and non-functional, and it is more beneficial for them to return to the homeland, foremost among which are the leaders whose contributions inside the homeland will be more beneficial and useful and on the path to rationalizing government spending."
In this context, she stressed the need to "reduce the number of ministries or form an emergency government of no more than 11 ministers of specialized competencies without deputies, and a limited number of specialized undersecretaries; to prevent waste in all fields."
She warned of the collapse of the currency, stressing that "the collapse of the currency and the rise in prices threaten to bring down everything; rather, it makes a revolution of the hungry the best option, if the situation continues without serious treatment and a high national sense that leads to treating and extinguishing the economic fires."
In this regard, she called on "the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the members of the House, as representatives of the Yemeni people, to return to the homeland, hold the House sessions, approve the government and state budgets, monitor the government's performance and hold it accountable."
The political parties in Taiz also called on "everyone to leave behind narrow calculations and private squares," stressing "the necessity of staying away from exploiting the citizen's living conditions and livelihood for any negative exploitation, or exploitation to pass any agenda, whatever it may be."
In this regard, she stressed that "the national and humanitarian duty is to neutralize the economic aspect and everything related to the citizen's daily livelihood and life, because playing with it is like pouring oil and playing on a burning fire from which no one will escape."
The statement touched on the state of aid provided to poor families by the World Food Programme, expressing surprise at "the unjustified omission of many beneficiary names, coinciding with the deadly wave of rising prices."
The political parties stressed "the responsibility of the government and the Ministry of Planning, which is directly responsible for communicating and following up with the programme and the relevant organisations, and they must work to follow up with the relevant authorities to reform and correct the conditions of the beneficiaries who represent the poorest and most needy groups."
The statement said, "As we suffer with our people the painful effects of the citizen's living conditions, which have made the pursuit of a loaf of bread a worrying concern and a difficult-to-achieve demand; as a natural result of the deterioration of the value of the national currency, and the continuous rise in prices, which portends dire consequences, and the approach to the brink of famine, and the resulting risks to general peace and stability, we here address all concerned parties with the necessity of assuming their historical responsibility to save the national currency from complete collapse, in order to save the lives of our people and the security and stability of the homeland, and in light of that."
The statement called on the leadership of political parties at the national level to leave the square of silence and move towards taking political action and pressing political initiatives to save the lives of Yemenis.
It called on "all parties involved in the economic situation to take serious steps to improve the economic situation, stop the deterioration of the daily living conditions of the citizen, and present initiatives to the concerned authorities to reduce the price hike and ward off the specter of famine."
Regarding the situation in Gaza, the political parties in Taiz Governorate condemned the criminal war being waged against the Lebanese and Palestinian peoples, considering that “the genocide of the Palestinian people in Gaza has surpassed all forms of crime throughout human history.”
She called on the "international community to stop supporting and appeasing the genocide massacres, and called on "the Arab and Islamic countries to move from the circle of negativity to the circle of positive action to save the Palestinian people, and support the Palestinian cause, as it is the first cause of the Arabs and Muslims."
While it blessed "any moves to stop the genocide and support the cause, the situation requires Arab and Islamic countries to make more progress in a manner that is appropriate to the daily crime of genocide being committed against the Palestinian people in Gaza, and to respond immediately to the distress call issued specifically from the northern part of the Strip, which is being subjected to the most heinous organized genocide."
In this regard, the political parties in Taiz called on the masses of the governorate to gather on Friday in Tahrir Street to denounce the genocide and convey the voice of support and condemnation to the world.
