The Yemeni Armed Forces affirmed their commitment to achieving a just and sustainable peace based on the three references: the Gulf Initiative, the outcomes of the National Dialogue, and the United Nations resolutions, foremost of which is UN Security Council Resolution No. 2216.
This came in the editorial of the Army newspaper on September 26 in its weekly issue, which bore the title “The Anniversary of Evacuation and the Requirements of the Present,” coinciding with the celebration of the 30th anniversary of November 1967.
The armed forces stressed that any solution that does not comply with these three references will not be acceptable except through a military decision.
The editorial described the anniversary of independence, November 30, as “a historic turning point in the Yemeni people’s struggle against colonialism, which resulted in freedom and independence.”
The armed forces called for drawing lessons of struggle and sacrifice from previous generations to confront the Houthi militia, which it described as "the most dangerous challenge facing the country currently."
The Armed Forces also stressed the importance of national alignment and strengthening unity to confront conspiracies aimed at undermining Yemen's sovereignty and stability, pointing to the role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting efforts to confront the Houthi militias supported by Iran.
The editorial concluded with a renewal of the pledge to continue defending the homeland until full security and stability are achieved.
