Bin Dagher said in a condolence telegram that the deceased left indelible marks on the Yemeni and Arab cultural and literary scene, and was a bearer of the banner of progressive thought and the defense of the people's rights, stressing that with his departure the nation lost one of its giants and symbols of art, poetry and creativity in our country and the Arab world.

The deceased Al-Sarimy was born in Al-Hujariya in Taiz Governorate in 1948. He began his primary education in the Kuttab of his village, then moved to Djibouti with his father and completed his education there, before returning to experience life in Aden as a construction worker.

But he was not satisfied with manual construction. He traveled to Russia in 1980 to build his scientific future, and obtained a master’s degree in popular literature in 1985, then a doctorate in the philosophy of social sciences in 1990 from Moscow.

His poetic works include: The Alphabet of the Sea and the Revolution, Rhythmic Concerns, Intoxication and Sorrows of the Sun, Al-Sarimy Said, Four Roses and a Poem, The Coral Flower, and Obsessions.
