The head of the Sovereignty Council and commander of the Sudanese army, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, said that their preparations to “end the war” do not prevent them from engaging in “any real initiative that ends the war and ensures the safe return of citizens,” in a speech broadcast on state television today, Tuesday, on the occasion of the sixty-ninth anniversary of Sudan’s independence.

The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Sunday that Khartoum's welcome of Turkish mediation to end the dispute with the UAE stems from the fact that the latter is "a party to the aggression that Sudan is being subjected to," in response to a statement by the UAE Foreign Ministry regarding Turkish mediation and Abu Dhabi's vision to end the war in Sudan.

Sudanese Defense Minister Yassin Ibrahim announced that the Sudanese army had retaken the Sennar Sugar Factory area, located between the borders of Sennar and Al-Jazeera states, which is considered one of the fortified strongholds of the Rapid Support Forces that it used as a platform to attack the two states.

Two informed Yemeni sources revealed that the commander of the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, visited Yemen in coordination with the UAE while the Sudanese army forces were participating in the Saudi-led Arab coalition operations against the Houthis since 2015, according to the Arabi 21 website.

The death toll from the ongoing attacks by the Rapid Support Forces on the village of Wad Ashab in Al-Jazeera State since Tuesday has risen to 70, while the emergency room in southern Khartoum warned of the overcrowding of the morgue of Bashayer Hospital with bodies, indicating that at least 200 people were killed in the area during the past two months.

Sudan's Transitional Sovereignty Council Chairman Abdel Fattah al-Burhan said on Tuesday that his country is "sovereign and does not accept any external dictates," following the rejection of a British draft resolution at the UN Security Council that the Sudanese government saw as "imposing guardianship over peoples."
