Breaking the siege of Deling.. The Sudanese army advances to connect the besieged cities in North and South Kordofan

The Sudanese army has made new progress in its military operations in South Kordofan State, by lifting the siege on the city of Dilling, the second largest city in the state from the southern side, after defeating the forces of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North. Thus, the Sudanese army has made progress in linking the besieged cities together in the states of North and South Kordofan.
Yesterday, Monday, the forces of the 54th Brigade in Deling moved south to meet the forces of the 14th Division coming from Kadugli to the north. The meeting took place in the Al-Samasim area between the two cities, and the road linking them, which extends for a distance of 116 kilometers, was opened today, Tuesday, as the army is fighting two military formations there: the Sudan People's Liberation Movement - North Sector led by Abdel Aziz Al-Hilu and the Rapid Support Forces, which have become allies by signing a political charter that brought them together with other political and military forces in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, last Saturday.
The city of Deling, the second largest city in South Kordofan State after its capital Kadugli, was subjected to a double siege from multiple directions by the SPLM-N led by Al-Hilu and the Rapid Support Forces, as the SPLM-N besieged the area from the south and west, while the "Support" besieged it from the north-east.
Deling is located 498 kilometers south of the capital, Khartoum, and 160 kilometers south of the city of El Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan State, which the Sudanese army lifted the siege on last Sunday.

🟩It was done by military force:

Deling is home to the 54th Brigade, while Kadugli is home to the 14th Infantry Division. In January 2024, Deling was subjected to violent attacks by the Rapid Support Forces, which sought to seize control of the 54th Brigade, but failed to storm the city after the Sudanese army confronted them with partial assistance from elements of the SPLM, despite the movement's opposition to the government, given the presence of the elements' families inside the city.
Last Sunday, the Sudanese army was able to enter the city of Al-Ubayyid, the capital of North Kordofan State, and lift the stifling siege imposed on it by the "support" since the beginning of the war in mid-April 2023. Al-Ubayyid is located 139 kilometers north of the city of Dilling.
A military source told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that lifting the siege on Deling comes after the Sudanese army took control of the cities of Bara, Rahad and Al-Abyad in North Kordofan State in the past weeks, and thus has a wider distance to move between the states of North and South Kordofan, and to expand westward to the Darfur region adjacent to the Kordofan region.
The source explained that the area where Deling is located is one of the areas with rough roads, explaining that the Sudanese army in Kadugli needed a road that connects it to Deling, which in turn is connected to El Obeid to the north, which means the entry of supplies and tightening the noose on the SPLM forces stationed mainly in Kaduda, which is 84 kilometers east of the state capital Kadugli. The source considered that the most important thing is that the forces of the Fifth Division in El Obeid, the 14th Division in Kadugli, and the 54th Brigade in Deling will be connected in the field.
Targeting "support" in El Fasher
In another direction, the Sudanese army said in a statement today, Tuesday, that its forces and the supporting forces in the city of El Fasher in North Darfur State, backed by the air force, targeted the gatherings and movements of the Rapid Support Forces around the city, and dispersed a force coming from the southeast, in addition to completing the combing and cleaning of suspicious houses in the southeast of the city’s surroundings and securing all roads leading into the city.
The Sudanese army added that "the vicinity of El Fasher witnessed the escape of large numbers of militia ranks in different directions via combat vehicles, civilian vehicles and infantry, which greatly reduced the phenomenon of infiltration and attempts to loot and steal citizens' homes in the outlying neighborhoods."
In Khartoum, Al-Misbah Abu Zeid, commander of the Al-Baraa bin Malik Brigade (a paramilitary group) supporting the army, said on his Facebook page on Tuesday that the Rapid Support Forces are trying to close the Al-Manshiya bridges east of Khartoum, to prevent the withdrawal of their forces in the Al-Faiha, Al-Nasr, Al-Huda, Al-Jereif East and Umm Dom neighborhoods in the East Nile locality, adding that the Sudanese army's drones today targeted the "Rapid Support" gatherings in East Nile, inflicting heavy losses on them.
