Loud explosions were heard in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, while the Sudanese army announced that it had confronted the Rapid Support Forces marches that targeted Marawi International Airport in the north.
Al Jazeera's correspondent said that he heard explosions in central Khartoum, while Khartoum State Governor Ahmed Osman Hamza confirmed that the Sudanese army is making progress to complete the cleansing and securing of southern and central Khartoum and to enhance the protection of civilians.
Hamza added - in a speech during his inspection of the armored corps in the Al-Shajara area, south of Khartoum - that the state's celebration of the final victory over the Rapid Support Forces will be soon.
He praised the armored corps for standing as a stumbling block in the way of the plans of what he called the "terrorist militia," repelling more than 100 attacks and inflicting heavy losses on the Rapid Support Forces, according to his description.
In the same context, Al Jazeera's correspondent quoted army sources as saying that the army's engineering corps had taken control of some advanced positions south of Omdurman, especially the Nakhil neighbourhood and neighbouring neighbourhoods, after fierce battles with the Rapid Support Forces.

On the other hand, the command of the 19th Infantry Division of the Sudanese army in the city of Marawi in the Northern State said that its anti-aircraft weapons had intercepted, during the early hours of this morning, a number of marches launched by the Rapid Support Forces towards Marawi International Airport in the vicinity of the city.
The brigade confirmed - in a statement on its Facebook page - that the army forces in the Northern State are fully prepared and ready to deal with any emergency, or any strange objects in the skies of Merowe Locality and the Northern State in general.
The cities of the Northern State have been exposed from time to time to attacks by suicide drones launched by the support forces, some of which have caused damage to some cities and their surroundings.
In El Fasher, the military media of the army's 5th Infantry Division reported that army aircraft launched raids targeting Rapid Support Forces east and north of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State, and led to the destruction of Rapid Support Forces vehicles.
The army said that the special forces carried out a precise operation in El Fasher, during which they killed 5 Rapid Support Forces personnel and seized a combat vehicle, weapons and ammunition.
The statement also reported that joint forces from the army, allied forces, special forces and intelligence continue to comb the neighborhoods of El Fasher.
For days, and at an accelerating pace, the areas of control of the Rapid Support Forces have begun to decrease in favor of the army in the central states (Khartoum and Al-Jazeera) and the southern states (White Nile and North Kordofan) bordering the Darfur region to the west (5 states), and the Rapid Support Forces control 4 states there, while the war has not extended to the north and east of the country.
In Khartoum State, which consists of three cities, the army now controls 90% of the city of Bahri to the north, most parts of the city of Omdurman to the west, and 60% of the depth of the city of Khartoum, which is in the middle of the state and contains the presidential palace and the international airport, and which are almost surrounded by army forces, while the Rapid Support Forces are still in the neighborhoods east and south of the city.
