Egypt denies Israeli reports of readiness for military intervention in Yemen

An "official Egyptian source" denied, in statements reported by "semi-official" Egyptian media outlets, today, Sunday, the veracity of what was circulated by Israeli media reports about Egyptian preparations for military intervention in Yemen.
The source stressed that "such reports and the misleading information they contain are baseless."
Israeli media reported that Egypt was making extensive preparations, including airstrikes against the Houthis, while intensifying its preparations to carry out a military operation in Yemen. These allegations have drawn widespread attention in the region, amid escalating security tensions in the Red Sea and the region.
In addition, the Bulgarian website ( bulgarianmilitary ) reported that "Egypt is showing a strong and increasing desire to play an active role in the conflict in Yemen, as it intensifies its preparations for military air operations against the Houthis, after the militias once again raised concerns about the safety of international sea lanes."
The site said in a report translated by "Yemeni Youth Net" that these threats, which greatly affect vital transport routes across the Red Sea, pose a challenge not only militarily but also economically for Egypt.
The report claimed that Egypt is preparing Rafale and F-16 aircraft to carry out potential strikes on Houthi sites in Yemen, explaining that these preparations include military training in the Libyan desert with the aim of ensuring the readiness of the Egyptian Air Force to deal with naval and air threats.
He pointed out that with the escalation of tensions in the region and the increasing threats to Egypt's economic interests, "the use of Rafale and F-16 aircraft in operations against the Houthis seems not only likely, but also strategically necessary."
He noted that Egypt would need to rely on its air power to regain control of vital waterways and respond to regional threats that could destabilize the country.
Late last December, Egypt announced a loss of nearly $7 billion in Suez Canal revenues during the year 2024 AD, affected by the events taking place in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab region, in reference to the attacks launched by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia on international shipping ships.
Since November 2023, the Iran-backed Houthi militia has been launching drone and missile attacks on cargo ships sailing in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab and the Gulf of Aden off the coast of Yemen, saying it is in support of Gaza, which has been subjected to an Israeli war of extermination since October 7 of the same year.
These attacks negatively affected shipping, trade and global supply chains, as many companies resorted to longer routes for safety, and also harmed the economies of the Red Sea countries, especially Egypt.
