The Ministry of Transport, in cooperation with Yemenia Airlines, announced today, Wednesday, the resumption of direct flights between Al-Rayyan Airport in the city of Mukalla in Hadhramaut Governorate and Cairo Airport in Egypt, after an interruption that lasted more than 10 years.
Saba News Agency quoted the Minister of Transport, Dr. Abdul Salam Saleh Hamid, as saying, "The resumption of these flights came after completing the necessary permits from the Egyptian authorities."
The Minister of Transport explained that the flight schedule will be announced and launched within the next two weeks.
Minister Hamid pointed out that this step reflects the Ministry's tireless efforts and orientations to support the air transport sector.
He praised the effective role played by the leadership of Yemenia Airlines, the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology, the local authority in Hadhramaut, in addition to the Yemeni Embassy in Cairo to achieve this accomplishment.
He also praised the role of the Egyptian official authorities for their great cooperation and granting of the necessary permits, praising the facilities provided by the Egyptian government to the Yemeni people, especially in light of the difficult circumstances resulting from the war launched by the terrorist Houthi militias supported by the Iranian regime.
Last month, the Egyptian Minister of Civil Aviation, Sameh Ahmed El-Hefny, revealed the imminent launch of flights between Cairo International Airport and Yemen's Al-Rayyan Airport, confirming that the flights had reached the final stages of completing approvals, and would be operated within the next few weeks.
The Egyptian official expressed his country's readiness to provide all forms of support in the areas of qualification and training at the EgyptAir Academy, as well as technical consultations, in addition to providing the necessary facilities at Egyptian airports.
