Gaza government: Number of journalist martyrs rises to 189 since the start of the war of extermination
Gaza| 23 November, 2024 - 11:28 AM
The Government Media Office in the Gaza Strip announced on Saturday that the number of Palestinian journalists killed has risen to 189, after announcing the killing of a journalist during the genocidal war that Israel has been committing since October 7, 2023.
The government office said in a statement: "The number of martyred journalists has risen to 189 male and female journalists since the beginning of the genocide in Gaza, after the announcement of the martyrdom of journalist and university lecturer in the Department of Journalism and Media at the Islamic University, Wael Ibrahim Abu Qafa."
The Government Media Office condemned the occupation's "targeting, killing and assassination of Palestinian journalists."
He held Israel "fully responsible for committing this crime," calling on the international community to pressure "to stop the crime of killing and assassinating journalists."
He also called on the international community and international organizations to "deter the occupation and prosecute it in international courts for its ongoing crimes and pressure it to stop the crime of genocide."
With American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving more than 148,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that killed dozens of children and the elderly, in one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world.
Israel continues its massacres, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution to end them immediately, and the International Court of Justice’s orders to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
On Thursday, the International Criminal Court issued two international arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant, on charges of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity during the genocide in Gaza.
