Al Jazeera reported on Thursday that the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) agreed to hand over the bodies of the Yarden Bibas family, in response to a request from the Israeli occupation through mediators.

The channel quoted an informed source as saying that what is preventing their delivery so far is the occupation's failure to bring in the heavy equipment needed to extract the bodies.

Yarden was captured in Operation Flood of Al-Aqsa on October 7, 2023, and was transferred with his wife and two children to Gaza.

The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, released prisoner Yarden Bibas last Saturday as part of the fourth batch of prisoner exchanges within the first phase of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip with Israel.

The Bebas family is one of the symbols used by participants in the protests of the families of Israeli prisoners in Gaza, demanding a ceasefire and a prisoner exchange deal.

Hamas accused the occupation of killing the family members, the wife and her two children, during a violent bombardment of the Gaza Strip in November 2023.

On the 30th of the same month, the Al-Qassam Brigades published a video message from the Israeli prisoner Bibas, in which he called on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to work to recover their bodies so that they could be buried in Israel, in accordance with his appeal.
