77 people killed and injured in separate traffic accidents during the past week

Five people were killed and 72 others injured in traffic accidents in liberated areas in Yemen during the past week.

A security statistic issued by the Traffic Department and published by the Ministry of Interior’s media said that the roads of the liberated areas witnessed 66 traffic accidents last week, which claimed the lives of 5 people and injured 72 others, 31 of whom were seriously injured.

She stated that the accidents, which caused material losses of 9 million riyals, were distributed between 49 vehicle collision accidents, 10 pedestrian run-over accidents, 6 vehicle rollover accidents, and one vehicle fall accident.

The statistics attributed the causes of traffic accidents to (violating traffic rules and regulations by exceeding speed and wrong and dangerous overtaking, being distracted by things other than the road, neglecting the distances between and on the sides, repeatedly stopping on the public road without adhering to the necessary signals when stopping, ignoring traffic signals and instructions, neglecting periodic maintenance of the vehicle, neglecting pedestrians when crossing, and the road and its technical powers play a role in these accidents).
