A university student was killed in a weapons tampering incident north of Al Dhale'e.

A university student was killed in a weapons incident in a town in Al Dhale' Governorate (southern Yemen).

Local sources said that the young man (Muthanna Ali Ahmed Muthanna Al-Assar), from the people of the Maris area, north of Al-Dhale’, was killed the day before yesterday in a weapons misuse incident.

The sources added that the incident occurred while a child relative of his was playing with the weapon, when a bullet was fired from it, killing the young man, Muthanna, instantly.

According to sources from Yemen Youth Net, the victim was a second-year student in the Information Technology department at a private college in the Jabara area of Marees.

As a result of the security chaos and proliferation of weapons amid the ten-year-long conflict, various Yemeni governorates have witnessed numerous similar incidents in recent years, claiming the lives of dozens.
