The terrorist Houthi militia continues to protect one of its security officials from accountability, by appointing him to a new security position despite his conviction for drug trafficking.

The Houthi militia appointed the so-called "Sadiq Salah Ahmed Al-Maqbali" as the security director of Aslam District in Hajjah Governorate, in the latest rotation of the Ministry of Interior in the unrecognized Houthi government.

Al-Maqbali's appointment comes after he was convicted by the Public Prosecution of drug trafficking, along with others, while he was appointed Director of Security for the Thi As-Sufal District in Ibb Governorate.

According to informed sources, the Public Prosecution, which is under Houthi control, had referred Al-Maqbali to trial, but influential Houthi leaders have prevented his trial until now.

Al-Maqbali is from the Al-Radmah District in Ibb Governorate, and is one of the Houthi security leaders. He was previously appointed to the position of Security Director in the Ash-Sha’ir and Dhi As-Sufal Districts in Ibb Governorate.

In recent years, drugs have spread in various governorates under the control of the Houthi militia, in which influential leaders in the militia are involved through gangs and wide networks in promoting and trading them, according to human rights and international reports.
