Aden: Yemen Youth Net
A human rights center has highlighted the tragedy of a Yemeni family from Ibb Governorate (central Yemen), after their breadwinner was kidnapped by armed elements in the city of Aden, which is under the control of the Transitional Council forces, seven years ago.
The American Center for Justice stated in a statement on Sunday that the young man, "Mohammed Hamoud Mabkhout Daif Allah Moharam" - a construction worker - from the village of "Beit Al-Sabai" in the Radmah District in Ibb Governorate, was kidnapped in 2017 by an armed group in the Dar Saad District, north of Aden, after (J. A), the owner of the building in which he works, informed on him.
The center explained that "Moharam" had a quarrel with the building guard, who called him "Dahbashi" before the building owner sided with the guard and threatened Mohammed with imprisonment.
He pointed out that the family of the young man, Mohammed, consisting of a father, mother, wife and three children, continued to search for him for six months, before they received a phone call informing them that he was in the Dar Saad police station, and he asked them not to ask or search for him, claiming that these were just procedures and that he would be released, but they were surprised after arriving at the prison that he had been transferred to Bir Ahmed prison.
The American told Justice that since then, no information has been obtained about the fate of the young man, "Moharam," despite all the efforts made by his family.
He pointed out that his father died of grief during the years of research, while his mother went blind due to grief over her son, his wife suffered from several diseases, and one of his sons drowned in the dam while the others dropped out of school.
The Transitional Council forces run private prisons in addition to the official prisons under their control, and are accused of kidnapping and torturing hundreds of civilians for political and regional reasons, while human rights reports have documented several deaths under torture inside those prisons.
