Save the Children International said on Tuesday that more than one million children in Yemen suffer from disabilities.

This came in a brief statement published on the X platform, on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which falls on December 3 of each year.

“Rami, 8, was born with hearing loss and faces educational challenges in Hajjah. Save the Children provided a hearing aid and healthcare,” she added.

“More than a million children in Yemen suffer from disabilities, and on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we honor their strength and resilience,” she continued.

The United Nations estimates that there are 4.9 million people with disabilities in Yemen, a number that has been doubled by the war that has been taking place in the country for ten years, casting a negative shadow over this segment, which now faces extremely difficult living conditions.
