MASAM: 570 Houthi mines and ammunition removed during the past week in Yemen

The Masam Project for Mine Clearance in Yemen announced on Sunday that its field teams had removed 570 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices from several Yemeni governorates during the past week.

The project operations room said in a statement that the teams cleared 570 landmines and unexploded ordnance last week (December 14-20), including two anti-personnel landmines, 50 anti-tank mines, 508 unexploded ordnance, and 10 explosive devices during the period.

She explained that the total number of items removed between December 1 and 20 reached 2,224.

The statement pointed out that the project's mine clearance teams cleared 268,664 square meters of Yemeni land last week.

The statement indicated that since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, the MASAM project teams have removed 473,258 explosive materials in a number of liberated governorates.
