Destroying Houthi mines in Taiz
The Director of the Executive Center for Mine Action Branch, Head of the Military Engineering Division in the Taiz Axis, and Supervisor of the Masam Project in Taiz Governorate, Aref Al-Qahtani, confirmed that 18 directorates are contaminated with mines and explosive devices.
This came during the destruction of more than 950 mines, explosive devices and unexploded shells, which had been planted by the terrorist Houthi militias in residential areas, roads, water sources, educational and health facilities, and agricultural lands in Taiz Governorate.
Al-Qahtani pointed out that these areas in Taiz are ranked first in terms of contamination by individual mines at the republic level, as a result of the hatred of the terrorist Houthi militias towards this governorate and their planting of mines in it in a hysterical and intensive manner.
The destruction process was carried out under the supervision of the Executive Centre for Mine Action in Taiz and the Masam Project for Clearing Yemeni Lands of Mines, in the presence of the Chief of Operations of the Taiz Axis, Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Najjar, and the Head of the Training Division of the Axis, Brigadier General Saeed Al-Sabry.
During the destruction, the head of Taiz Axis Operations praised the efforts of the Masam Project and the Executive Center for Dealing with Mine Action, in clearing contaminated lands in Taiz Governorate and rehabilitating these areas until they become ready for use, development and construction.
It is noteworthy that the Masam Center is affiliated with the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, and has been working in Yemen since 2018. The center confirmed in a previous statement last week that it had been able to remove and destroy nearly half a million mines and explosive devices in Yemen since 2018.
