The United Nations Mission to Monitor the Hodeidah Agreement (UNMHA) said on Saturday that it had recorded the killing and wounding of 13 people, including children, due to the explosion of mines and war remnants during the month of December in the Hodeidah Governorate in western Yemen.

The UN mission stated in its monthly report that it recorded seven incidents of mine and war remnants explosions in Al Hudaydah Governorate during the month of December.

She explained that these incidents resulted in the injury of a man and six children, and the killing of four men and two children in several directorates in Al Hudaydah Governorate.

She pointed out that these incidents occurred in the districts of Ad Duraihimi, Al Hali and Al Hawak.

The UN mission warned of the continued threat to civilians from mines, stressing that the number of incidents recorded last month was higher than in November in the aforementioned areas.

The UN report confirmed that the districts of Ad-Duraihimi, Al-Hali and At-Tahtiya are the most affected by mines, noting that Yemen is still severely affected by explosive devices.

The UN mission noted that Hodeidah is one of the governorates most affected by mines, due to the violent fighting in the past, and the ongoing conflict along the front lines in the south of the governorate.
