Minister of Defense holds an extraordinary meeting with the Security Committee to follow up on the investigation procedures into the Sayoun incident

Today, in the city of Seiyun, the Minister of Defense and Chairman of the Supreme Security Committee, Lieutenant General Mohsen Mohammed Al-Daari, held an extraordinary meeting with the Security Committee in the Hadhramaut Valley and Desert to follow up on the investigation procedures into the incident of the killing of two Saudi officers.

The meeting was attended by Hadramout Governor and Head of the Security Committee in the Governorate, Mr. Mabkhout bin Madi, Hadramout Governor’s Undersecretary for Valley and Desert Affairs, Amer Al-Amri, Commander of the Second Military Region, Major General Talib Bargash, Commander of the First Military Region, Major General Saleh Taymis, Director General of Security and Police in the Valley and Desert, Brigadier General Abdullah bin Habish, Chief of Staff of the First Military Region, Brigadier General Amer bin Hatyan, and commanders of the military and security services.

According to the Yemeni News Agency "Saba", the meeting addressed the repercussions of the treacherous attack that led to the martyrdom of an officer and a non-commissioned officer and the injury of another officer from the coalition forces in the city of Seiyun, and the procedures for the investigation process by the formed committee and the efforts made by the military units and security services to arrest the perpetrator of the sinful attack.

In the meeting, the Minister of Defense renewed his condemnation of the cowardly and treacherous attack that targeted coalition officers, stressing the need to strengthen and double security efforts to arrest the perpetrator of the heinous attack and hand him over to justice to receive his deterrent punishment.

Lieutenant General Al-Daari stressed that this condemned attack only expresses the barbarity of its perpetrator and has no connection to the morals and customs of the Yemenis, especially the members of the armed forces, who proudly appreciate the great role of the brothers in the Coalition to Support Legitimacy led by the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and their great sacrifices alongside the Yemeni people, for which they offered their pure blood.

The Minister of Defense and the Governor of Hadhramaut also appreciated "the honorable fraternal positions of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the heroic and positive roles of the coalition forces supporting the legitimate forces in our country and providing support for humanitarian and development work and reconstruction efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people."

Last Saturday, the spokesman for the Arab coalition, Brigadier General Turki Al-Mali, announced that "an officer and a non-commissioned officer were martyred and an officer was injured as a result of a treacherous and cowardly attack inside the coalition forces camp in the city of Sayoun in Hadhramaut Governorate, eastern Yemen, on Friday evening."

For his part, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, directed the arrest of the perpetrator and the investigation of the crime in coordination with the forces of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy.
