Torrential rains in Sana'a Airport district

A number of residents of the Al-Majil Al-Gharbi neighborhood, affiliated with the Sana'a Airport neighborhood, complained that the Houthi militia prevented them from bringing in tankers of dirt to bury the rainwater pools around their homes.

Residents of the airport district told "Yemeni Youth Net" that they are surrounded by rainwater, and the Houthi security checkpoints stationed at the entrances to the district prevented them from bringing in piles of dirt to bury the rainwater that had accumulated as a result of heavy rains falling on Sana'a for more than 12 hours, causing minor damage.

According to residents, the Houthi militia prevented them on the pretext that the neighborhood is part of the airport compound, and they have directives to prevent any new construction or building in the neighborhood. After repeated attempts, Houthi elements stationed at the entrance to the neighborhood asked them for 20,000 riyals in exchange for the entry of each tanker.

Residents were surprised by these Houthi actions that double the damage to their homes, at a time when they are supposed to do this duty, without any compensation.

Sana'a and other Yemeni cities controlled by the Houthi militia are witnessing varying degrees of damage due to the rainfall, without any action by the militia to repair this damage or rescue and compensate those affected.
