The Health and Population Office in Taiz Governorate (southwest of Yemen) discussed the final arrangements for the cholera vaccination campaign, which is scheduled to start next week and last for six days.
The health media in the governorate said that the Public Health and Population Office in Taiz, headed by the Director General Abdul Rahman Ahmed Saleh, held an expanded meeting yesterday, Monday, with the directors of the office’s branches in the directorates, and the coordinators of the Expanded Immunization Program; to discuss the preparations and arrangements for implementing the cholera vaccination campaign, which will be launched in 16 of the governorate’s directorates.
The Director General of the Health Office stressed the importance of the campaign in limiting the spread of the epidemic, noting the need to intensify efforts and work in a team spirit in order to deliver the vaccine to all target groups.
The Director-General praised the efforts made by the National Expanded Immunization Program and the Health Education and Media Department in arranging and publicizing the campaign.
For his part, the immunization program coordinator, Dr. Fahd Al-Nimr, reviewed the campaign program plans, which will last for six days, stressing the need to adhere to the plans as they are in order for the campaign to achieve all its goals.
The latest official statistics announced on November 19 about the epidemic in the governorate indicate that 8,461 cases of infection have been recorded, including 52 deaths related to the disease.
