Local sources reported the outbreak of tribal clashes in one of the towns of Shabwa Governorate (southeast of Yemen), amid security chaos in the governorate, which is under the control of the Southern Transitional Council forces.

The sources said that armed clashes broke out on Wednesday between the "Baniyub Al Alawi bin Saleh Al Qabali" tribe and the "Al Abdullah bin Hussein" tribe in the Upper Markha district, west of Shabwa.

The sources added that the clashes, in which light and medium weapons were used, took place near the positions of the Shabwa Defense Forces, which remained spectators of what was happening.

The motives for these confrontations, which are usually based on blood feuds or land disputes, were not immediately known.

Since the Transitional Forces took control of Shabwa more than two years ago, the governorate center and its districts have witnessed security chaos and the return of revenge issues and tribal conflicts to the forefront, amid accusations against the local authority and the security and military forces affiliated with the Transitional Council of not taking any measures to limit this growing phenomenon.
