Danes Offer Trump to Buy California

Danes launched a campaign on Monday to annex California to Denmark, in response to US President Donald Trump's plan to buy the Danish island of Greenland.

A Danish website called Denmarkification said the campaign aims to buy California from the United States and turn it into Danish territory, in response to Trump's plan to buy Greenland.

The statement indicated that Trump, a member of the US Republican Party, does not like California, the stronghold of the Democrats in the country.

"Trump can't be considered a big fan of California. We're sure he'd be willing to give up this place for a reasonable price," he added.

The statement considered that Trump is capable of doing anything he puts his mind to, and that the opinions of the people cannot stop him, adding: Trump can sell California if he wants to.

Entertainment and warmth

Regarding the reason for choosing to buy California over the rest of the states, the statement said that California was chosen because of its warm and sunny climate, advanced technology, avocado production, and the presence of Disneyland.

He confirmed that if the deal to sell California to Denmark goes through, Disneyland will be renamed after Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen.

According to Anadolu Agency's monitoring, about 200,000 people have participated in the campaign since its launch.

In a post on Truth Social on December 23, Trump reiterated his statements that Greenland should be under US control.

He stressed that sovereignty and control over Greenland is an absolute necessity, which has once again sparked controversy over his intentions regarding this Arctic region that enjoys self-rule under Danish sovereignty.

Trump claimed in his inauguration speech on January 20 that all 57,000 Greenlanders supported the idea of joining the United States.

Earlier, Greenland Prime Minister Mjöt Borup Egede stressed in a written statement to Anadolu Agency that Greenland is not for sale.

"Greenland belongs to the Greenlandic people, we are not for sale and we will never be for sale, we will not lose our long struggle for freedom," Egede said.

Greenland, one of the two autonomous regions of the Kingdom of Denmark, along with the Faroe Islands, is located 2,900 kilometres from Denmark.
