The Association of Mothers of Abductees called for urgent human rights action to save the life of the abductee in the Houthi militia prisons, Ismail Abdullah Al-Batinah, who is suffering from a serious deterioration in his health.

The organization said in a statement on Monday that it had received a report from the family of the kidnapped Ismail Abdullah Al-Batinah (43 years old), who has been detained in the Central Security Prison in Sana’a since his kidnapping on October 20, 2017 by the Houthi group, stating that his health condition had seriously deteriorated.

She added that Al-Batinah suffers from "severe stomach infections, persistent diarrhea, and a tumor in the testicles, amidst deliberate medical neglect and deprivation of the necessary health care, as well as depriving him and his family of visiting him."

The Association held the Houthi group fully responsible for the life and safety of the kidnapped Ismail Al-Batinah, demanding his immediate aid, the provision of urgent health care, and his unconditional release.

The association stressed that "his continued detention under these harsh health conditions is a flagrant violation of human rights and international laws that criminalize the mistreatment of detainees."

The association called on local and international human rights organizations to urgently intervene to save the life of Ismail Al-Batinah, and to pressure the Houthi militia to provide the necessary medical care for all the abductees, and to work to end their ongoing suffering.
