During the night of Thursday-Friday, US forces launched approximately 43 airstrikes targeting seven Yemeni cities and governorates. This is part of a new wave of US airstrikes that have been ongoing since mid-March.

The Yemeni Youth Net website monitored Houthi media outlets reporting "approximately 43 airstrikes on seven Yemeni cities and governorates, namely the capital, Sana'a, Amran, Sa'dah, Al Hudaydah, Marib, and Al Jawf."

In detail, Houthi sources in Amran Governorate (northern Yemen) reported that "19 raids targeted the areas of Labda, Al-Amshiyah, Habashah, Al-Adi, Al-Abla, and Al-Jabal Al-Aswad in the Harf Sufyan area, and targeted the communications network."

Houthi sources said that the airstrikes disrupted the communications network after targeting it with approximately five airstrikes in Jabal al-Aswad in Harf Sufyan District, Amran Governorate.

It also launched seven raids in Saada, targeting the Al-Asayed area in Al-Safra’a district and Al-Salem district. In Sana’a governorate, it targeted the Jarban area in Sanhan district with four raids.

The capital, Sana'a, was targeted by three airstrikes late Thursday evening. Two targeted Sana'a International Airport, and one targeted the command area in the Tahrir district in the center of the capital, damaging civilian homes, according to Houthi media.

In the coastal city of Hodeidah, west of Yemen, the Al-Luhayyah district was targeted by three raids, while the Al-Humaydat district in Al-Jawf (north) was subjected to three raids, and four raids were launched targeting the Majzar district in Ma'rib Governorate.

Operations are ongoing

The White House announced that operations against the Houthis in Yemen would continue, describing the US strikes as "comprehensive and completely successful."

Earlier, the Associated Press reported that the new US airstrike campaign against the Houthi rebels in Yemen is more intense and widespread, with the US shifting from targeting only launch sites to firing on VIPs and dropping bombs on city neighborhoods.

The Wall Street Journal also quoted US officials as saying that Israel provided sensitive information about a senior Houthi military commander targeted in the recent attacks.

The United States has reinforced its deployment of B-2 Spirit strategic bombers to Diego Garcia, a key military site in the Indian Ocean. According to the American website TWZ, this is "an indication of potential airstrikes against Houthi targets in Yemen."

In mid-March, Trump announced that he had ordered the military to launch strikes against the Houthi group in Yemen in response to the group's attacks on ships in the Red Sea, warning them of the consequences if they did not cease their attacks.

In January, Trump redesignated the group as a foreign terrorist organization, aiming to impose tougher economic sanctions in response to its attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea and US warships defending the vital maritime region.
