A responsible source in the Yemeni Ministry of Finance denied on Sunday false statements attributed to an anonymous source in the Ministry of Defense, circulated by some news websites and social media, regarding Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak's directive to cut off military supplies and obstruct the disbursement of salaries.
The source confirmed in a statement to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that "the Ministry of Finance has reinforced the salaries and food allowances of the Ministry of Defense for the first quarter of this year."
He pointed out that these allegations, made by an anonymous source within the Ministry of Defense, are baseless, and that "these absurdities and lies have become so frequently repeated that they raise suspicions about the goal of those behind them, which is to undermine the morale of the military establishment."
The source explained that successive joint meetings were held, chaired by the Prime Minister, with the Ministries of Defense and Finance, and an extraordinary Cabinet meeting was held to support the armed forces.
He stated that the Prime Minister, in all his meetings, affirms the government's commitment, as a top priority, to supporting the efforts of the military and security establishment, meeting their essential needs, securing their food and other requirements, and improving the conditions of their personnel, so they can perform their national role during this exceptional period.
The source said, "The current phase is one of comprehensive reform and governance across all procedures in ministries, institutions, and government agencies, without exception. This comes amid the country's scarce public resources and the increasing demand for additional spending during the difficult circumstances the country is currently experiencing."
