Today, Sunday, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, discussed with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sheikh Sultan Al-Barkani, and members of the Council’s Presidency, Eng. Muhammad Al-Shaddadi and Dr. Mohsen Basara, the latest developments in the political, economic and service situations, and the measures required to enhance the role of state institutions.
This came during a meeting in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, according to the Yemeni News Agency, Saba.
During the meeting, Al-Alimi briefed the Speaker and members of the House of Representatives Presidency on local developments, most notably the economic situation, variables related to fluctuations in exchange rates and basic commodities, and the presidential efforts made to accelerate the implementation of the economic rescue plan.
The Chairman of the Leadership Council also touched on the policies and measures taken to alleviate the human suffering exacerbated by the attacks of the terrorist Houthi militias supported by the Iranian regime on oil facilities and international shipping lines.
The President presented the results of his recent meetings with regional allies, international partners, and relevant parties, regarding urgent interventions to strengthen the position of the national currency, comprehensive reforms, and securing basic services and goods.
In this context, Al-Alimi renewed his praise for the position of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, alongside the Yemeni people, and their continued support for the state’s general budget in order to fulfill its inevitable obligations, most notably paying employees’ salaries and securing basic goods and services for millions of Yemenis throughout the country.
The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council listened to a briefing from the Speaker of the House of Representatives on the activities of the Council during the past period, the results of the work of its specialized committees on the performance of the executive authority, and the general situation in the country. The Council also discussed the Council's plan to resume holding its sessions and the draft agenda for its next session.
It is noteworthy that the Yemeni House of Representatives has only held one session since 2015, which included limited sessions in April 2019, during the discussion of the government budget at the time. Meanwhile, the Southern Transitional Council is obstructing its convening in the interim capital, Aden.
