Today, the Deputy Governor of Marib, Dr. Abd Rabbuh Miftah, discussed with the Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Mission in Yemen, Christine Shibula, mechanisms to enhance humanitarian interventions and the Committee’s role in alleviating the worsening humanitarian crisis in the governorate.

During another meeting with the head of the French Islamic Relief mission in Yemen, Daniel Irungo Mongue, Undersecretary Miftah discussed the organization’s projects implemented in Marib, stressing the importance of expanding the scope of its interventions to meet the growing humanitarian needs.

Miftah reviewed the humanitarian challenges facing the governorate, which has received more than 2.3 million displaced persons and about 40,000 illegal immigrants, which has exacerbated the humanitarian gap in light of the decline in support from international organizations.

Undersecretary Miftah stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to provide basic services to the displaced and the host community.

For her part, Chibola confirmed her understanding of the burdens borne by the local authority, noting that the Red Cross interventions will focus during the coming period on emergency response, training medical personnel, and strengthening the health sector.

In turn, Mongi confirmed the commitment of the French Islamic Relief Organization to expand the scope of its interventions to include support for the education sector and emergency nutrition programs, which contributes to improving the living conditions of the most needy groups in Marib.
