The Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance and the Hadhramaut General Conference announced that they will not deal with the Presidential Leadership Council or its outcomes, and they decided to further escalate on the ground to put an end to what they called “arrogant behavior” and restore the reputation of Hadhramaut and its people.

A joint statement by the two components, headed by Sheikh Amr bin Habrish, said on Wednesday, "After nearly five months of the announced positions of the Hadhramaut Comprehensive Conference and the Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance, and the adoption of Hadhramaut's legitimate entitlements for the benefit of public affairs, it has become clear, without a doubt, that the Presidential Leadership Council does not have sufficient decision-making power to serve the nation or contribute to resolving the problems facing society in its daily life."

The statement added, attacking the Presidential Council, "Their role is limited to political quotas among themselves and partisan conflicts that serve their own purposes."

The two components stressed the adoption of the option of not dealing with this reality and that "anything that results from that does not concern us in Hadhramaut, and that escalation on the ground is the only option to confront that, and it is the way to put an end to those arrogant actions, and the guarantor of restoring the reputation of Hadhramaut and its people," according to the statement.

In a statement issued late last October, the Hadrami Tribal Alliance demanded full self-rule for Hadramout, explaining that this had become “an urgent necessity to save Hadrami society from the deteriorating situation.”

For months, the Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance has been leading an escalation against the legitimate government, setting up protest camps and erecting checkpoints to prevent the passage of oil trucks, whose revenues they demand be allocated to service projects in the governorate, most notably electricity. The alliance also demands that the governorate be represented through the “Hadhramaut Comprehensive” component as a major and independent party in any peace consultations in the country.
