In exchange for his support in the elections, a Yemeni preacher extracts promises from Trump to end the Gaza war and fight “Islamophobia”

Yemeni-American preacher Bilal al-Zuhairi has extracted promises from Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, including ending the war in Gaza and fighting “Islamophobia,” in exchange for the support of the Muslim community in Michigan.

This came during a meeting between a number of imams of mosques and Islamic centers in the state of Michigan, with the former US President, according to what preacher Al-Zuhairi stated on his account on the X platform.

Al-Zuhairi, the imam of the Grand Mosque in Michigan, said that he presented demands to Trump that he said represent American Muslims, including stopping the war in the Middle East, especially in Gaza, establishing peace, protecting family values and children from the influences present in school curricula, representing Muslims in his administration if he wins the elections, and fighting hatred against Muslims (Islamophobia).

Al-Zuhairi explained that Trump expressed his approval of them, saying, “These are issues that are not subject to debate and do not require me to think about them in order to approve them.”

Following the meeting, Al-Zuhairi gave a speech in the presence of Trump at one of his election rallies in the city of Nova, Michigan, during which he announced his support and the support of some Islamic centers in the United States for Trump in the presidential elections scheduled to be held on the fifth of next month.

“We as Muslims stand with President Trump because he promises peace,” Al-Zuhairi told hundreds of attendees. “We support Donald Trump because he promised to end wars in the Middle East and Ukraine.”

Al-Zuhairi also pointed to Trump's social views as a major reason for his support, noting that many Muslim leaders support Trump's "commitment to promoting family values and protecting the well-being of our children, especially when it comes to curriculum and schools."

Trump and his campaign are seeking to win the support of Arab-American and Muslim voters who are dissatisfied with President Biden's handling of the war in Gaza and the party's positions on social issues.

The mayor of Hamtramck, a Yemeni-American, Amir Ghaleb, had announced his support for Trump and opened an office for his election campaign in the city. He announced that President Trump had apologized for previous statements in which he described Yemeni immigrants as "terrorists" and stressed the need to solve their problems.
