US fighter jets launched a series of airstrikes on Houthi militia positions in the western and northeastern Yemeni governorates of Al Hudaydah and Ma'rib on Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

Houthi-affiliated media reported early Sunday that "an American bombardment targeted the port of Al-Salif in Al-Hodeidah Governorate."

She also reported that US aircraft resumed bombing Hodeidah International Airport with two raids.

This comes after Houthi media reported that US fighter jets had carried out three airstrikes on Hodeidah Airport and the Al-Manzar area in Hodeidah Governorate.

She added, "Five other US raids targeted Majzar District in Ma'rib Governorate."

Local sources in Hodeidah also reported that two airstrikes targeted the naval base in the Al-Kathib area, west of Hodeidah port, noting that ambulances rushed to the targeted site.

Last Saturday, US President Donald Trump announced that he had ordered his country's military to launch a "major offensive" against the Houthi group in Yemen, before threatening to "completely eliminate the Houthis."

On Friday, the American website Politico reported that the United States had deployed a second aircraft carrier to the Middle East, a rare move as the Trump administration intensifies its bombing campaign against Houthi fighters in Yemen.

The website also quoted defense officials as saying that US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth ordered the USS Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group, currently operating in the Red Sea, to extend its deployment for at least a month.
