The Yemeni government confirmed its continued efforts to evacuate its citizens stranded in Lebanon, as the Israeli aggression on a number of Lebanese cities and towns continues.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement (Tuesday) that it is making continuous efforts through our country's embassies in Beirut and Amman to evacuate Yemenis present in Lebanon.
The Ministry explained that as a result of the escalating and unfortunate events witnessed by the sisterly Republic of Lebanon, the Ministry has begun evacuating Yemeni nationals present in Lebanese territory.
The statement indicated that eight citizens were evacuated last Friday to the sisterly Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and from there to Aden International Airport on board Yemenia Airlines, with all necessary costs covered.
He stated that the Ministry is currently coordinating with our country's embassies in Beirut and Amman to complete the necessary arrangements to evacuate the remaining numbers, in order to ensure the safe return of all Yemenis to their homeland.
Media sources revealed a few days ago that the Yemeni government had evacuated the majority of its diplomatic mission in Lebanon, and had begun transporting the first group of stranded Yemenis by air from the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
At the beginning of this month, the Yemeni embassy in Beirut announced that it was impossible to evacuate Yemenis by air, and asked those wishing to leave Lebanon to register their names before directing them to travel to Syria by land.
It is noteworthy that a Yemeni academic was killed in an Israeli raid on Lebanon early this October.
