The National Bloc of Political Parties and Components welcomed the sanctions imposed by the United States of America on the terrorist Houthi militia and its leaders, stressing the need to invest them to accelerate the process of ending the coup and restoring the state.
This came in a statement issued by him following the regular meeting of his Supreme Council, yesterday, Monday, headed by its President, Dr. Ahmed Obaid bin Dagher, who discussed the latest developments in the political arena, and discussed ways to enhance joint action to restore the state and end the Houthi coup.
In its meeting, the Council welcomed the sanctions imposed by the US administration on the terrorist Houthi militia and its leaders, considering it a step in the right direction towards besieging the sources of financing terrorism and supporting efforts aimed at ending the coup and restoring the Yemeni state.
The Council stressed the need for the legitimate government to invest these sanctions diplomatically, economically and politically, in a way that contributes to increasing international pressure on the militia and stopping its violations against the Yemenis.
The Council also stressed the importance of intensifying internal efforts to strengthen national unity, and working to activate all political and diplomatic tools to benefit from these sanctions in accelerating the end of the coup and restoring state institutions, warning against any complacency in exploiting the growing international position against the Houthis.
In the middle of last week, the US Treasury imposed sanctions on seven leaders of the Houthi militia, including Mahdi al-Mashat, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, and Mohammed Abdul Salam, for their role in smuggling weapons to the militia and threatening stability in Yemen and the region. The US State Department also announced that the decision to classify the Houthis as a foreign terrorist organization had come into effect.
At the local level, the meeting reviewed the economic and social conditions in the country, stressing the need to take urgent measures to address the living conditions of citizens, and to enhance efforts aimed at better management of national resources and more effectively to confront current challenges.
He also reviewed the latest military developments, stressing the need to raise the level of readiness to confront all possibilities and prevent the enemy from achieving any gains in preparation for its defeat.
At the end of the meeting, the Supreme Council of the National Bloc renewed its firm position in supporting legitimacy led by the Presidential Leadership Council and its President, Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, and stressed the importance of the unity of political and national forces in confronting the terrorist Houthi project, and working to achieve the aspirations of the Yemeni people to restore their state and build a secure and stable future.
