The Yemeni government renewed its call to move the headquarters of the United Nations organizations to the city of Aden, in the south of the country, a day after announcing the death of a UN employee in a prison belonging to the Houthi militia in Saada Governorate, in northern Yemen.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the "arbitrary" practices committed by the terrorist Houthi militia against employees of United Nations agencies and international organizations operating in areas under its control, which led to the killing of Ahmed Ba'alawi, an information technology operations officer at the World Food Program.

The ministry confirmed in a statement on Wednesday that the death of the UN employee inside a Houthi prison and the militia's continued arbitrary practices are "evidence of the militia's lack of respect for international humanitarian laws," calling for the immediate release of all detained employees of UN agencies and international organizations.

The ministry concluded its statement by renewing its demand to transfer the headquarters of the United Nations organizations to the temporary capital in Aden to ensure the security and safety of all employees there.
