Iran has begun to outline its foreign and domestic policy for the coming year after the "setbacks" it suffered in 2024, especially after the fall of its ally Bashar al-Assad in Syria and the heavy losses suffered by Hezbollah in Lebanon, and in light of the tense economic and social situation at the domestic level in the country.

The revolutionaries in Syria have decided the battle to overthrow the regime of Bashar al-Assad, the most important members of the Iranian axis, which also includes the Shiite Popular Mobilization Forces, the largest component of the Iraqi government, the Lebanese Hezbollah, and the Houthi militia, in addition to other militias that Iran formed in Syria before the fall of Assad over the past 14 years, such as the Zainabiyoun and Fatemiyoun Brigades, among others.

The Israeli army announced on Tuesday evening the assassination of a senior official of the Lebanese Hezbollah in Syria in an air strike on the capital, Damascus. A Lebanese security source also confirmed the official's death.

The Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, which is close to Hezbollah, published details of a proposal it said the Turkish government had presented to the Syrian regime.

A ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah began on November 27, 2024, with an agreement brokered by the United States and France that called for a 60-day halt to violence, aiming to end 14 months of hostilities that had inflicted heavy casualties on both sides.

Hours after the ceasefire between the Lebanese Hezbollah, the main element in the Shiite Iranian axis, and the Israeli occupation, the Syrian opposition factions launched an attack on Hezbollah forces, the Syrian regime, and Iranian militias west of the Aleppo countryside, and achieved victories that had not happened for years.
