The US Treasury Department announced today, Thursday, the imposition of sanctions on 12 individuals and entities for their role in arms trafficking, money laundering, and shipping Iranian oil to the Houthi militias in Yemen, including Hashem Ismail Ali Ahmed Al-Madani, the governor of the Houthi-affiliated Central Bank in Sanaa.

Today, Tuesday, the National Authority for Prisoners and Abductees called on the international community to impose more pressure on the terrorist Houthi militia, to force it to release all detainees and abductees arbitrarily.

The US Treasury Department on Tuesday imposed sanctions on 35 entities and vessels it said were "playing a vital role" in transporting illicit Iranian oil to foreign markets.

The U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has imposed sanctions on 26 entities and individuals linked to Al-Qatirji, a Syrian conglomerate that allegedly funnels hundreds of millions of dollars to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Quds Force and the Houthi movement in Yemen.

The US Mission to the United Nations revealed that a permanent member of the Security Council (which it did not name) opposes the Council imposing additional measures to reduce the Houthis’ aggressive actions in Yemen and the region.

The UN Security Council adopted a resolution drafted by Britain on Wednesday to extend international sanctions imposed on the Houthis for a full year.
