Samson in the Temple of Gaza

Opinions| 8 August, 2024 - 1:43 AM

Benjamin Netanyahu assassinated Ismail Haniyeh. He assassinated him after he returned from Washington under pressure because of his criminal war on Gaza. He assassinated him because he saw that the only way to remove the pressure was to blow up the region. Sometimes it happens that an explosion is the best way to get rid of pressure. Going too far with the explosion serves Netanyahu's person, but it does not serve either America or Israel, and from here comes the pressure on Netanyahu, to stop his adventures, which he sees as his only lifeline.

Perhaps Netanyahu reads this period in Jewish literature. Perhaps he saw that Samson had found the right path when he demolished the temple for everyone. “Samson the Mighty,” who regained his strength after weakness, and killed “more Philistines in Gaza with his death than he killed in his life,” as the Book of Judges tells us. Netanyahu believes in the Torah, or more correctly - he is like Ben-Gurion and other Zionists - he believes in what is in his favor in the Torah, and abandons everything else. Gaza is not a city beloved in the “Old Testament.” It is the city of the “infidel Philistines,” the “cursed” city whose people Samson demolished its temple and killed with them in the famous incident. Gaza is the city that Yitzhak Rabin wished to wake up one day when he saw the sea swallowing it. By the way, Rabin is the Israeli dove of peace, and the least evil that the Israeli peace doves can bear is to wish that millions of people drown in the sea!

Aside from Netanyahu and Rabin, Nero was one of those emperors afflicted with the disease of power, sex, money, promiscuity, and fire, an eccentric man who enjoyed the sight of fire consuming the neighborhoods of his capital, Rome, while he played his lyre from a high tower and sang Homer’s poems describing the fire of Troy. Nero burned Rome and then committed suicide, and like Samson and Nero came Netanyahu, the “new Samson,” who is filled with hatred for Gaza, which was the sight of the old Samson. The promise of chastising it, burning it, and demolishing its mosques has come, and this is the appropriate way for Samson to remain the eternal leader of “God’s chosen people,” as there is no escape. From the continuation of war and fire, as long as the price of peace is Netanyahu’s seat.

Politicians sometimes reach a degree of horrific selfishness, to the point that they can go about blowing up the entire world - and not “a temple in Gaza” - if they feel that they are in a critical corner. The interest of the politician is his people and his country, it is his religion and his Holy Book, it is his God whom he worships, and it is the only temple in which he prays, and for whose sake he can blow up all the temples.

With all this fire burning in the heart of Rome, the fire because of which the United Nations said that the city - because of it - was “no longer a suitable place to live.” With all of this, the new Nero felt that he had failed to achieve his goals, which led him to go far away, and just as Nero adopted the Rome policy Assassinations were adopted by Nero Gaza, who went so far as to assassinate the most senior Hamas leader.

Netanyahu killed Ismail Haniyeh, then. Killing him in the heart of the “capital of the axis” achieved two goals in one fell swoop: getting rid of the head of Hamas, and insulting Tehran. Netanyahu and his military leaders believe that removing the heads will make the body of the resistance collapse. Getting rid of the head means the death of the body, but the laws of biology do not apply to ideas. Resistance is an idea, and an idea cannot be beheaded or defeated by weapons. You can separate the head of the resistance from its body, and then find that many heads have grown from the blood of the severed head. This is a fact that people like Netanyahu cannot comprehend, who do not realize that, even if they kill all the leaders and members of the resistance, another form of it will arise, a more violent form. I appreciate confrontation.

Netanyahu's problem here is that he is facing men who actually want to gain "martyrdom" by the fire of his army, and this is a real dilemma, as it is possible to intimidate those who fear death, but intimidating those who wish for "martyrdom" is impossible, and this is Israel's real predicament in Gaza.

Returning to the assassination of the Hamas leader, the goal was and still is for the assassination to blow up the region, and for Netanyahu to gain more American and Western support, given that he is fighting the enemies of the civilized West, fighting those barbaric Palestinians, the descendants of those who burned Samson’s eyes, or more precisely, he is fighting “animals.” Humanity” in Gaza, according to the expression of the other Biblical writer Yoav Gallant, is a narrative that finds a response among Western political elites defiled by money and power, and masquerading as Christ and the great epics.

The Iranians threaten a lot, to score points with their audience, and not to carry out their threat against their opponents, and Tehran is in a critical situation - there is no doubt - but as usual, it will find a way through which it says that it responded to the assassination of Haniyeh, without hurting Israel and raising an American and Western storm against it. In the manner of the bazaar diners, Tehran seeks only profit, and cannot expose its capital to loss, in this large bazaar called “The Middle East.”

As for Netanyahu, he will be disappointed in his “intimate opponent” Khamenei, whom the new Samson wants to strike hard, in order to use that strike as an excuse to demolish the temple of the Middle East on the heads of worshipers of all religions, languages, and ethnicities.
