Syria's Lessons and Yemen's Opportunity

Our Writers| 6 December, 2024 - 5:31 PM

We agree with these forces on the importance of moving beyond the past, unifying ranks, rationalizing discourse, and reducing the futile bickering that benefits the opponent. But on what foundations and rules is this hoped-for consensus based?! Unifying ranks superficially is a prelude to deeper and more disastrous divisions. Therefore, we must realize the importance of unifying ranks on the basis of respecting popular aspirations, fulfilling sacrifices, and changing the lives of citizens for the better by creating a strong political, economic, and social structure. Without that, no consensus will be achieved, and the past will continue to nest and destroy the present and make the future more distant.

The political forces have had many experiences of failure, but unfortunately they have not learned. They also always stand in the way of the progress movement with hesitation, trembling, free concessions, and errors in the terms of the settlements, which have cost the country a lot.

To get out of the current situation and produce a new political formula to build upon, we do not need more political hypocrisy and blocs as much as we need the spirit of popular will and change, the vigour of youth and the spirit of revolution under any name that meets aspirations and allows the involvement of all popular forces and encourages dissent in the structure of the militias and their allies from the tribal, social and even organisational forces and getting closer to the people in the areas controlled by the Houthis. This is what will enable us to unite and turn the page on the past.

The revolution in Syria offers us many lessons and a golden opportunity. If it is not exploited according to a new vision that benefits from revolutionary energies, renewed thought, and the vigour of adventurers, we may need more decades of conflict to reach a conviction of the importance of this path.

And the people are like destiny

Who chooses who?

And the people are like destiny

And hope is clear.
