Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa announced today, Tuesday, at the opening of the National Dialogue Conference in Damascus, that Syria does not accept division, and stressed the unity of arms in the hands of the state.
Al-Sharaa said in a speech he delivered before hundreds of figures participating in the dialogue conference at the People's Palace in Damascus that the revolution saved Syria from being lost, but the challenges remain great.
He added, "Today, Syria has returned to its people after it was stolen suddenly."
The Syrian President also said that the unity of arms and its monopoly in the hands of the state is not a luxury, but rather a duty and an obligation, stressing that civil peace is a duty for all citizens of the country.
Al-Sharaa pointed out that there are parties inside and outside the country that were upset by the joy of the Syrians over the victory of the revolution, and he called for caution, pointing out the need to take into account that Syria is in the stage of rebuilding the state anew after all the devastation and destruction that has befallen it.
He also said that the authorities have been working over the past two months to pursue the perpetrators of crimes against Syrians.
Regarding the form of government in Syria in the future, Al-Sharaa said, “We should not import systems that are not compatible with the country’s situation, nor should we turn societies into testing grounds for implementing political dreams.”
