Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Rashad Al-Alimi stressed the need for the government and its relevant institutions to commit to close cooperation with the Central Bank and the international community to implement punitive measures against the terrorist Houthi group.
This came during a phone call made by Al-Alimi with the Governor of the Central Bank, Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Ma'baqi, a day after the White House announced the reclassification of the Houthis as a terrorist group, according to the Saba Agency.
According to the agency, Al-Alimi and Al-Ma'baqi discussed the measures resulting from the US administration's decision to reclassify the Houthi militias supported by the Iranian regime as a foreign terrorist organization.
The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council was briefed by the Governor of the Central Bank on the executive procedures for terrorist classification, in accordance with the decision of the National Defense Council and international mechanisms, to dry up the sources of financing for terrorist militias and prevent their access to resources that destabilize local security, regional and international stability.
Al-Alimi stressed the need to limit any negative repercussions on the Yemeni financial and banking sector, and the interests of citizens, and to reassure the humanitarian community by ensuring the flow of relief aid without any obstacles to various parts of the country.
