Washington: Yemen Youth Net
Yemeni Prime Minister Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak confirmed on Saturday that Washington's classification of the Houthi militia as a foreign terrorist organization, as an executive decision, will help dry up the militia's sources of funding and restrict many of its terrorist activities internally and externally.
He added, during his meeting with the Chairman of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator James Risch, at the end of his visit to Washington, that the decision is "a legal and economic tool to isolate Iran's terrorist arms in the region," according to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba).
Bin Mubarak praised the American decision, stressing that it would "put real pressure on the Houthi militias and send a clear message regarding their violations and terrorist attacks," noting the importance of the partnership between the Yemeni and American governments to deal with the decision.
For his part, Senator James Rich confirmed that the US administration is monitoring the situation in Yemen, and that the classification decision comes from its awareness of the threat posed by the Houthi militia to the security and stability of the region and the world as an extremist terrorist organization.
