On Wednesday, in the interim capital, Aden, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Trade for the Domestic Trade Sector, Dr. Atef Haidera, discussed with representatives of companies importing wheat the most prominent challenges facing import operations and their repercussions on the living conditions of citizens.
During the meeting, which was attended by the Directors General of Consumer Protection, Market Stability, and Operations at the Ministry, the need to find practical solutions to address the obstacles affecting wheat imports was emphasized, as this plays a fundamental role in stabilizing prices and enhancing competitiveness in the market.
According to Saba News Agency, the importance of achieving a balance between imported quantities and local market needs was stressed, to ensure the security of the strategic stock to avoid any potential crises.
The attendees discussed proposals to limit price increases, review possible solutions to control markets, and agreed to hold periodic meetings to follow up on market developments, which would contribute to improving the economic and commercial situation and alleviating the living burdens on citizens.
For his part, Dr. Haidara confirmed that the ministry's leadership is working continuously to enhance the strategic stock and provide basic food commodities, noting that the ministry, in coordination with the Yemeni Economic Corporation, is about to open Ramadan exhibitions in a number of liberated governorates, to meet citizens' needs at reasonable prices.
He also stressed the need to enhance cooperation between the Ministry and importing traders to ensure market stability and provide basic needs at fair prices, especially with the approach of the holy month of Ramadan.
